Makalu: 405EX Wireless-N Enterprise Access Point Reference Design

AMCC’s PowerPC 405EX reference design kit provides customers with an enterprise wireless-N Access Point solution. The production ready software and the “Makalu” network appliance hardware reference design platform enable quick, low-risk development of Access  point products, offering significant cost and performance advantages when compared to competing solutions.

Customers receive a compact Makalu board in an Access Point enclosure and can download the complete board design from the AMCC website, either using it to manufacture as-is or as the starting-point for their own hardware design.

Customers can license the MAPS software directly from TeamF1, either as a standard product configured as in AMCC’s reference design or as a customized version with features added or omitted in line with specific end product needs.

The production ready nature of this kit means that OEMs can replicate the reference design and release an Enterprise Wireless-N Access Point product without developing any hardware, firmware or management software themselves.
